Who are they feeding?
...your neighbor ...a family member ...or even a co-worker. These are
people you know and see everyday, people who are just not able to
make it anymore.
In today's economy, many people face the hard decisions of choosing
between putting food on the table, gas in the car, clothing on their
backs, or paying rent to stay in their homes. These are individuals or
families who are finding it very difficult to afford life’s basic necessities
because of the constantly rising gas prices and increasing food
costs.
In addition, those with fixed incomes are finding the rising cost of
living to be problematic, as it becomes a daily struggle to afford even
the basic grocery necessities.
THE FRANCISCAN FRIARS AT ARCH
STREET WANT TO DO SOMETHING
ABOUT THIS SITUATION.
The Friars want to open a food center to help those who can no
longer afford food.
This food center would utilize a concept called -clients’ choice- that
enables the individual or family to choose their own food from
stocked shelves. This freedom values a person’s human dignity.
Each client would first have to prove eligibility for the program, and
then attend two classes: one on nutrition and one on effective shopping
skills (eg. never shop for food while you’re hungry...). This
center would also include an area called -Baby Place- devoted to
clothing and childcare supplies for infants and toddlers.
PLEASE - WE NEED YOUR HELP TO OFFER HELP
TO THOSE WHO ARE STRUGGLING.
THE FRANCISCAN
FOOD CENTER
In the spirit of St. Anthony, please help us help
those most in need. Help us transform sections
of the Shrine's lower level into the Franciscan
Food Center and Baby Place. Together....
we can do something to ease their pain
